I eat the fish that I catch so I don't feel that bad about it.
The ones that i have to release I don't just throw back in the water, I hold them in the water and try to make sure that they recover a bit before they move off.
(Bears don't catch fish with hooks for fun!)

No it isnt mean fish have no pain reseptors in their lips. Fish are good for you and contain Omega 3 fatty acids that promote brain growth. Hey look at dolphins, seals and killer whales they eat fish all the time and their smart. You really need to get out of college and live in the real world where people have real problems other than worrying whether someone is being mean to Nemo. Now when a fish looks like Kristanna Loken from the waist up I wont eat that one but since fish like that are few and far between I'll let you get back to your tofu and your Carrie Underwood cd. Sarcasm can be so fun

No I do not think that fising is mean. Fishing is a sport and a way of catching food.
Let me tell you what is mean: Vegetarians preach about not wanting to kill animals for their food, correct? Well think about how many bunnies, mice, and snakes are killed in those fields where the vegetarians' food is being chopped down? Hundreds. This is a fact.
One cow can feed many people but vegetarians kill hundreds of small critters for their food. So who is the bad guy hear?
At least people who eat meat eat what we kill.

Now that I think of it, I do think it is a little mean.
I really dont think setting traps for animals is very... nice, or even honorable. (Not that I'm the honor type) but just because the human cant catch the fish barehanded means they have to resort to better measures
But it is a hunting world, so I would think it is one of the only ways to catch one.
But people dont always eat the fish! raargh! I'm confused.
Good question.

I hope you're not serious, and if you are....(shakes head) Well just think of it this way, we're humans, WE ARE GREAT, and nothing is better. Humans could never be wiped out completely by a type of animal that exists on this world. Although we could wipe out every animal if we wanted to. WE ARE HIGHER ON THE FOOD CHAIN. We are on top. If you feel sorry for animals get over it, they're stupid compared to us. We have sophisticated housing and GUNS! :o. But more on the serious point, we own them. *bites a fish head off* GRRRRRRRRRR

Those little fishies you like to defend are racist, Nazi-like, ignorant biggots. I hate those friggin things. You'll be at the lake and try to cool off in the water, then some little pissed off minnow with a chip on his shoulder will come swimming up and try to bite your toe. I think all fish should be deported.

It's not mean. The life of a fish ends by either a fisherman's hook or another fish ripping it to shreds for its own dinner. Sucks to be a yummy fish, I guess. They shouldn't be so tasty if they don't want to be eaten.

Well, I think it's rather cruel to catch a fish and throw it back. I understand why fishermen/women throw a young fish back into the water, though. But, when you put it like you just did, it all seems really mean!! But all forms of killing animals to eat them are mean. So I try not to think about it. The one animal that I refuse to eat is lobster, because they are boiled to death! How sick do you have to be to boil an animal to death!

I'm with you, I can't look at a fish struggling out of water -
the hook, the suffocation, it's too much cruelty for me.

Fishing should be for food, not for throwing fish back in the lake. If the lake's water is so bad, I wouldn't bother fishing in it.
But then again, I take my lessons from logic, not P.E.T.A.
