Dan Marino was definately a great quarterback. He could launch the ball. In my opinion it has nothing do with him or with or the team he was on. He had the same problem that Jim Kelly and John Elway had. He was in the AFC. For years and years the NFC was just a lot better than the AFC. It wasn't until the late 90's that the AFC started winning and that was when Elway got his, but by then it was too late. If you think about who dominated the leaugue, the 49ers, Cowboys, Bears, redskins, all NFC teams since the from the 1980's until the late 90's. If Marino, Kelly, or Elway would have played in the NFC they would all have a couple more super bowl rings.

I'm an Eagles fan, and like the Buddy Ryan coached teams, I feel that Dan Marino was hindered by a one dimensional coach that had a potent offense but an average defense. I didn't like the Eagles as long as Ryan was coach, I simply did not like him, even when he was with the Bears. But his lack of concern over the offense was a glaring weakness. He had great offensive receivers and Keith Byars at back, but his problem was that he felt that defense could win games. I always laugh when I hear that "defense wins games" because if that was so, then why is there an offense.

Dan Marino was an awesome qb. He made the marginal players around him better. He made Clayton and Duper look like Jerry Rice and Randy Moss. With Marino at qb its hard to believe he never won the super bowl.

Marino never had a RB that was a top running back- from 1984 to 2000 Marino had one 1,000 yd runner (96-Kareem Abdul Jabbar). By then it was two late for Marino to get their. Still the top passer in the NFL though!

Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl because he was
a hothead after he got to the playoffs.
I believe it was the pressure to get back to the big game that
overcame him in the playoffs. You cannot expect anyone to
keep giving you 100% when, after a mistake, your quarterback
verbally assaults you to the point that the entire nation can
see his beet-red face and watch spit escaping from his mouth.

In other words, he lacked poise and tact when dealing with a
player who he thought had made a mistake.

I feel bad for Marino who couldn't win a single Super Bowl b/c of the team he was in. He should have asked to be traded to another team in the league that would have helped him win a couple of Super Bowls before he retired from the game.

Dan never had the right team surrounding him on the field. Yes they had good receivers but their defence wasn't anything special.

He never won a super bowl because his team never did. No one person wins a super bowl.

Because talent alone doesn't do it ... even the team alone doesn't do it. When it comes to winning it all there will always be a certain amount of luck involved.
