You will need to purchase a router. The router will attach to whatever you are using for your Internet access (DSL or cable modem) and both computers then attach to the outer If one of your laptops has wireless, then you may want to purchase a router with wireless capability. It will come with a set up disc that will walk you through hooking both laptops to the router. Then they will both have Internet access and be able to share files between the two computers. It is relatively easy. They design the set up for people with little computer experience.

There is a couple of ways to create this shared internet connection, but first a few things to consider:

1- What is the source of the connection - Cable Modem?
If so, use wire connection for the non-wireless PC, and create a wireless network to connect your wireless PC.
2- If so, do you know if it is a wireless modem? And if not, are u willing to invest in one to turn both PC wireless? (USB Wireless Adapters are the best)
3-Do your other computer has a network card?
OK- Now. If it is a No and want to connect without an actual Nic Hardware installed, than you are about to face big time stress and headache because this is a non existence network connection and can be very shaky.
you can create shared net environment by starting the network adapter driver file located in one of your windows folder(do a folder search on "net") This will temporary be a background tunnel for your PCs to communicate as a local network through a direct telephone wire connection. Next is to create this network, click on Create a new connection and choose other, follow the prompt, and click direct connection through parallel. Be careful to choose the connection correctly and make sure to make the PC w/ internet connection the giver (Outgoing) Go into control panel and if you see the Network Connection icon, the connection has been created. Go to the Network Property and click and install all clients, eServices and protocol. All Information should be the same on both PC. To troubleshoot if you cannot connect, try changing the the last 2 values of the your IP address

If both of you laptops have an eithernet card, you could use the one laptop-A to connect to your wireless router. Then use a PATCH cable to connect the two wired ethernet cards and set up laptop-B to connect to the internet through another computer.
