Who would Phil Jackson rather be coaching right now? Stats don't mean anything unless you can put up W's.

you're right, scoring 81 points in a game says alot, but it doesn't say enough if you can't do it when your teammates need you to. to be up 3 games to 1 in the first round and allow the other team to come back and win the series, it doesn't say much. i think Phil is coaching the right person cause he knows that he can control things now.

So you're telling me that if Kobe switched places straight up with LeBron or D Wade, his team wouldn't be that good?
The Lakers suck! If you replace Kobe with an above average SG, the Lakers would have never won more then 25 games.
I'm not a Kobe fan, but I can't understand why people keep hating on him.
If Kobe put up the same stats as Wade did in game 5, no one would care. But because he puts up huge numbers on a piss-poor team, everyone rides him. Yeah, Kobe's attitude may have something to do with why they didn't have great talent around him, but don't trash Kobe and his 81 points. MJ never scored that many and he averaged well over 30+/game b4 Pippen and Jackson.

The "great" Michael Jordan could probably tell you a lot about meaningless records, as he had the highest scoring playoff game ever, a 63 pt game in a double-overtime LOSS to the Celtics (as his Bulls got swept yet again in the first round).

Incidentally, the Suns were a 2 seed, the Lakers a 7 seed... the 2 seed is supposed to beat the 7 seed, so both teams did exactly what they were supposed to do..

It's not, "you're supposed to win when you're up 3-1", it's "you're supposed to win when you're a # 2 seed against a #7.

1.scoring 81 pts in a game when ur team is down by as many as 23 means something.
2.Last time I . looked, the lakers were a seventh seed , it was because of Kobe that they even won 1 game, let alone 3.
3.Kobe has no talent around him
4.Switch Kobe with any other player in the league,Lakers don't make the playoffs.
Why can't people seem to understand that Kobe is the best player in the league bar none.Come on people give the man his respect.

I disagree scoring 81pts. means something b/c you won't see players scoring 81pts in a game. Kobe needs his team to step up and score points too b/c he can't score 81pts each time his team play.

good call tony ^.....people make to big of a deal about stats and individual glory.. and that seems to be the only reason Kobe is playing. As long as he's getting attention he's happy if he's winning or not. D-Wade and Lebron are both better players!
