Seriously, I'm a good guy, attractive, smart, friendly, all that jazz. The big problem is that I live in a small southern rural community where being gay is seen as worse than being racist. I barely know any gay guys, and for me, they're just more acquaintances that might be willing to hook up with me but I'm not interested in just sex. I don't have any good gay friends. So does anyone have any solutions? Should I look into moving to New York lol? It's just depressing seeing the same heterosexual losers talking about how they're in love blah blah blah and I haven't even ever been on a real date.

for the record, I didn't mean any heterosexual bias by describing them as "heterosexual losers." That would be very hypocritical of me considering all the hate I've endured based on my sexuality. I was truthfully thinking about some redneck friends of mine who can't hold jobs and think a fun time can be had by drinking, farting and making fun of gays and black people. that's all.

Why do they have to be "heterosexual losers"? Why can't they be just plain "losers"? That's the problem with our society--people are always giving each other labels! How would you feel if you were referred to as "a homosexual loser whining about how he can't get a boyfriend, blah, blah, blah,..." If you want to meet people with the same interests as you, get the heck out of that small community, and travel. Go to a bigger city on the weekends or on your vacation. You should be more social. You will never find anyone in a town that looks down upon you the way you have described. Yeah, why don't you try New York. Move there even. Or come to California. You will love it. You will make lots of gay friends. Peace....

I know what you mean by "heterosexual losers" not that being heterosexual makes them losers. It's the same bastards who think of February 14 as a lovely cutsie holiday, rather than it's true name, SATAN's DAY. I was alone for 35 years, never had a s/o before, for much the same reason as yourself. I've had a b/f for 5 years now, but I still recall that crappy day, and how everyone else (the most visible were straight) just revelled in how loved they were, throwing it up in my face.
Anyhoo, I started doing internet hookups, and one kinda stuck, and fell in love with me. I grew to love him.
I hate to say you have to move, but guy, you have to move. I have access to a moderately blossoming gay community here (cincinnati) and lots of out gay folks, if I try.
You might try some hook up, consider trying to engage them socially. that could turn into something.

I would suggest setting your priorities so that you understand that you don't need a relationship to be happy-not yet at least. You've probably already realized that people are always going to give u a hard time so don't let them. Get good grades and get into a great university, that's when you'll get to experience what you want. Not when you're young. Just like you said. Those straight people think drinking and farting is fun, but you dont think so. Having a relationship really shouldnt be for people that are too young.

1. Move
2. Look online (gay.com, manhunt.net)
Usually gay.com works fine, but people there are mostly interested in sex, not relationships. But remember, given the type of town where you live, being in a relationship might be dangerous for you two since it'll be obvious you're together romantically.
