Not really. I dated a guy for a long time and he would take my side in arguments with his friends, but I'm rather certain he never loved me. He just liked a good argument, and I was always the underdog.

No. He may not want to be embarrassed by the comments the person is making. Although that may be a sign that he cares, also.

it shows he cares enough not want 2 see anyone **** on you so yes it is a way of showing he loves u.
