I mean, except for holding all the galaxy together, do you think they have some further purpose?

They only hold solar system to it's size. A gravity phenomenom got all planetary make up from the left over gas, dust and ice of the sun's birth phase mould or mould and melt into shapes and form round by cosmic stellar dust wearing it to shape. The mass that gets formed by gravity clogs the core from ripping space or even time but gravity can still go through like a plugged bottle. Holding the planet together. Then reactions from the leftover chemicals of the planet form the ground from volcanism and life from static infection. So the planets just formed there, from out of the millions of solar systems in this galaxy alone one is bound to form life on that solar system's planets. So they just formed there, they don't require a need or if we need it. As we evolved to the Earth, not that the Earth evolved to us. Think of the different species on this Earth alone.
A galaxy consists of billions and some less to millions of stars and stars' solar system of planets, planetoids, comets, asteroids, satellites and moons.

You can try to prove it scientifically if you want, but you eventually will hit a wall. There comes a point in astronomy where you just have to take a step back and take it all in. The best explanation I have ever heard about the earth, the planets, and the whole universe is that every time we think we know it all, there comes a discovery which proves that we know nothing. The universe is a mystery which we may never fully understand. There is so much that is unexplained out there. You can either take this to mean that we are fleeting little nobodies and all on our own in this huge empty space, or you can see it as proof of a higher power. However you interpret the mystery is up to you.

Sorry, persons who think aliens exist, no intellegent life exist in the solar system. Including us. 4 of the planets are gas giants remember.

And no, the planets are really only good for scientific research. Perhaps we can colinize mars or a moon someday, but thats about it. Heck, earth doesnt even have a purpose. Nothing has purpose if you put it that way!

To hold the galaxy up, of course. Earth holds the sky up because otherwise the sky would fall down. So the other planets just hold the rest of space up so it doesn't fall down.

Well the Giants Mummy and Daddy bought him the Earth to play with, but he got a bit bored with it, so they bought him the other planets to finish the set, but then one day, people starting using Earth as home, so the Giant went back to just playing with the Earth and forgot about the other planets, but sometimes he does feel like playing with the other planets :)

Well, the scientific reason is they grabbed the loose dust and debris of the system into orbits, kinda like a milky way vaccum cleaner.

On a side note, they are there for future colinization. After all, Earth First!.....we will get the other plantets later.

they serve the purpose of god showing how awesome he is that he can put all these planets in perfect balance and that he has an artistic side. i mean just look at jupiter, or saturns rings, or a lot of stuff here on earth.

not really. they all came from the sun originally and serve no real purpose. although apparently the outer planets, the 4 gas giants, protect the inner planets including yours by bearing the brunt of comet and asteroid impacts before they can reach your world.

first the question is presumptuous in assuming that we are the centre of the universe the universe exists not for man but despite of man before and after it exists and will always exist in one state or another and we will never solve the mystery of the universe just take an intelligent guess that's all we can do we have our limitations
