Go for it! you already seemed to have done your homework? You know there is a need and you want to tackle it. I say go for it...you will never know unless you try! Look at it this way, many large businesses started off small with just a simple idea.

If there's a demand for the business, then you can very well start your business cutting down the weeds

You may want to read the article "How to Start a New Business Successfully" http://www.powerhomebiz.com/vol51/launch.htm , which lists six steps to launch a new business successfully:

1. Provide a benefit.
2. Determine the fit with your market.
3. Right timing is everything
4. Be ready to support your business
5. Develop a blueprint for success
6. Market, market, market

You have already identified landscapers as an important strategic partner. Contact landscapers in your area, and check if they are willing to outsource to you the process of cutting weeds. They can be an important partner for you.

Then start driving by the area, and check out houses and properties that can benefit your services. Then contact them - either by direct mail or telephone, or by cold calling them.

To give you ideas on what exactly do you need to start your own business, here are ten things you need to know before launching your own business “10 Things You Need to Know When Starting Your Own Home Business” http://www.powerhomebiz.com/052006/startingbiz.htm .

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Start Your Own Lawn Care Business (Entrepreneur Magazine's Start Up) by Eileen Figure Sandlin
* Start & Run A Landscaping Business by Joel LaRusic
* How to Start a Home-Based Landscaping Business, 4th by Owen Dell
* Lawn Care & Gardening: A Down-To-Earth Guide to the Business by Mickey Willis

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Just some general thoughts:
1. Make your business homebased; and take advantage of the reduced investments and operating costs, along with the excellent tax benefits that go along with a HBBO (Home Based Business Opportunity).
2. Write a business plan because an unwritten plan cannot be followed, and anyone who fails to plan, plans to fail.
3. Learn how to work on your business as effectively as your work in your business.

Find out what the landscapists charge and then offer competitive prices and better service. Good luck.
