Have you heard of mail order brides?
You can theoretically sell people on the internet, but most of it is done from a different country.
Even prostitution is sold online when you look up escort services.

The way you posted the question would certainly be human trafficking. In theory, however, people are "traded" all day long. Everytime you utilize an employee online or offline, you are trading his skills and abilities, etc. for profit. Of course it is with his/her consent and for "lawful" purposes. You can't sell prostitutes even with their consent. Some Baby adoption agencies are basically selling babies for profit disquised as "locating" fees. What's the difference then what you are proposing? Russian brides?

Yes, of course it would be illegal! An internet site is under the jurisdiction of the laws of the country it is operated from. Customers of the site are also under the jurisdiction of the country they are living in.
You have a misconception of the Internet, by the way. The Internet is NOT the websites to which you have access - it is the connections which make that access a viable proposition.

Edit: csucdartgirl is quite incorrect in saying that slave trading is legal in those countries. The link she provides is to a HISTORY of slave trading in those countries.

Depends on the laws of the country on which the server which hosts the site resides. Also visitors to the site would be under the restrictions of the laws of the country to which they were accessing the site from.

Well! i dont say anything... Directly NO! but in your case it is illegal strongly because how can someone be so rude to sell someone who have his/her own soul and life doesn't matter if he's one whom you gave birth and brought into this world.... you still don't have that much right to sell someone... no matter internet or in real!
I WOULD NEVER WANT TO DO THAT... BETTER I'D SELL MYSELF IF I GET SOME OFFER TO SELL PEOPLE!

yes it is because the ebay company itself is located in the united states it must abide by united states law. in fact ebay got in to huge amount of trouble over a program that would tell you it is selling * (* being whatever word you were searching in a search engine) so if someone used black people as * or asian people as * then ebay would say its selling black people at ebay or its selling asian people at ebay. the aclu had a field day with it

Nope. Slavery is slavery wether it is through the internet or in person.
You CAN sell services. You can sell gardening services over the internet, for example, and the gardener will come to your house.
