I think it was Venice. Italy. The photos did not do it justice. In the evning we went to a small restaurant, not expensive, and the waiter just started to sing opera areas. It was enchanting to walk in the dark streets at night over mini bridges and just try and picture what is was like in the 18th century with all the intrigue. As we went to sleep a singer on a gondola was serenading a couple under our window. It was better than Hollywood could produce.
We always travelled on a budget. In Europe if the bathroom was down the hall, so be it. We ate cheese, bread and wine in our room and had a great time. We took Eurailpasses and managed to sleep one night on the train getting to our destinations.

Gatlinburg, TN...Smoky mountains, it's beautiful and cheap...we wnet camping. Best wishes
