You shouldn't have to. But let me be honest with you. I worked with two separate xbox 360 systems and the wireless connector never worked right. Connected the system with a cable to the router and it works great. You are in for a lot of headaches with the wireless if it didn't work right away.

Spend time to run the wire.

You shouldn't have to change any settings as long as your wireless connection isn't encrypted.
