I am not a ultra conservative Republican, but I am a Republican. I believe that States should have more rights than the Federal government and that if a county, borough or municipality votes not to follow the course of the country, they should not be penalized.
For example, many areas of my state have voted to be "dry" (no alcohol sales within that area). If business person wants to petition to change that, it must be put to a vote (on the ballot), and If the citizens of that area still vote "dry", the government cannot come in and force them.
Those who pay the taxes, own the land, raise their family and support their local communities should determine what will happens to their area, not some politician in Washington who listens to lobbyists or some real estate investor who lives elsewhere and profits from the local citizens. I believe the Federal government needs to get it's head out of local issues and let the local people make the decisions, and then support them on it.
I voted for George W. and I don't agree with everything he does, I never have with any president. The thing is I did vote. Those who don't vote have no right to complain, even a poor choice is better than no choice.

I'm just a regular guy that used to never consider myself either hard core republican or democrat but now that I see how liberal the democratic party has become and what their core values are, I'm proud to a republican and I wouldn't consider myself to be far right.

I'm not an expert on American politics, being Australian but don't all Republicans think the world is 6000 years old and science is black magic? Or is that just your leader?
