Start your own myspace page with fake info and look up her school, her town and friends and from there you can see what her and her friends are discussing.

My suggestion is to create a myspace account and view it that way...but like someone else said, you won't be able to view their messages -- only the comments people leave for them and any of the blogs they have marked as "public".

With regards to the underlying question. The media likes to preach the negative aspect because that's what unfortunately gains attention. I think while there are "predators" online....they exist in more places than simply Myspace. As with any big city instructions you would give your child (i.e. don't walk down a dark alley etc), I would say that you should caution your child against the potential dangers of the internet...which we all know, Teenagers "already KNOW about...ugh" :-p In all seriousness though, i did see a show one time where this mother took the extremes of basically tracking what her daughter did...and then when the girl was ready to meet someone, the mother had her go to the place that had been monitoring her online. Turned out the man she had been talking to that said he was 16, was a NYPD police officer who goes online to make a point to kids who are taking their chances online. Before she met the police officer (who by the way was in his late 40s), she and her mom went to a center for women who were victims of attack -- I forget the actual name of it now but anyway, the point was that the girl got to meet a few women who had met some stranger online and had it go completely wrong....THEN she met the police officer. you should've seen her face... Here she was expecting this cute 16 yr old she had "seen pictures of"...and instead here's a big burly police officer in his late 40s looking back at her.

I'm not saying you have to scare your kid. I'm just saying, make the dangers so clear to them that they are leary of becoming friends with people they don't already know in real life.

Best wishes..

I'm a teenager, and I don't use myspace, but go to www.myspace.com and type in their username in the search box. Then you can see like what their page looks like and who their online "friends" are, but I don't think you can read their messages, but yea, my cousin used myspace and her older sister was able to find out a lot by looking up her account name. I've heard myspace is really dangerous and there's some whacked out people on it, too thats why I don't use it.

It depends on whether you want to be sneaky about it, or upfront. If you suspect something sinister going on, you could get an account on MySpace that would not easily identify yourself, and take a look around. If you pretend to be a teen ager yourself you could ask others questions about your teen ager. I realize this is cagy, but it may be the best way to find out what your teen is really doing. Good luck.

looking on their myspace page is one answer, alternitavely if your worried about what your kids are doing on the computer while your away, get a commercially available keylogger. This will sit stealthily on your machine and record all of the keys entered by your offspring, check the logs when their in bed at night or set it up to e-mail all activity to your account. Good keyloggers will also give you information about what applications they using, and some can even give you a log of web activity.

Be a responsible parent and monitor actions on the internet, I would NEVER let my children go on that site, it is a predators playground and TOO much information is given! Get a program that records every keystroke if you are that concerned.

go to the myspace website. where it says search ( on the toolbar at the top of the site ) go to where it says 'find a friend' and type in his or her name. then you can view their site and check out there pictures. you can see who has commented them, who there friends are, and by a little guessing, you can figure out exactly what they are doing.

if you want to check their messages and stuff, contact Tom. He is the maker of myspace and maybe he will help you out. :) But to contact him you need to make your own myspace.

good luck .. =]

Open your own myspace account and become your childs friend. You can then see what is going on with their page.

find out her password and look around on it OR make up your own myspace of a nice person or whatever and become one of her friends on myspace. make your person somebody your teeneger would like BUT all of this would be lying so try asking her/him what she/he is doing FIRST

get a watch program and have it only filter what she does on myspace.com, a good program is watchdog, it will filter and watch everything she does, it will even take screenshots every so often and see her keystrokes
