Collecting data is not a crime. If the company made a direct offer and you accepted it then they would have made a civil tort. A broken contract for which you could sue. I find it quite strange that a company would put that in the window to draw customers. Cant see that it would draw much business. In the future tryand ask about the position before filling out the app!

more answers can be found through the Ma Labor board.
It is suppose to be against the law to advertise help wanted when they are not hiring.
however, may not be something that is really important in the law rules.
I do not think many people complain enough to push the issue.

Some stores are always willing to hire people who they think will be better employees. They may be hoping to find a job candidate who make them create a vacancy.

If it's a chain store, then they might not be hiring for that particular location but they still accept the applications for the other locations.

it happens in my area 2.I do nt know why they think that people who r looking 4 work have money 2 spend in there stores.hmmm I do not know but the last time I checked if your looking 4 work ur freakin broke or close 2 it right lol

yes that happened to me , at the big apple , they say now hiring so i filled out a job application and then my husband asked the manager about the job and he goes oh we arent hiring here. the bad thing about that is , now they have my social security number and other personal info they required me to put down on my application. if its not illegal it should be

yea it happens in my city too. it isnt against the LAW persay, only because false advertising only applies to consumers, but you could file suit and get them on obtaining money through deceptive means.

the website findlaw.com is something i use. You can get lots of legal information and even find a lawyer for free. you can ask questions and get them answers by lawyers for free also.
