well they come from the producers i.e grannda for ITV shows.. and the producer makes money from the sponsors

Take Big Brother for instance they advertise the little phone for the carphone warehouse every time they use that phone the carphone warehouse pays them a certain amount of money. Also every time you ring for someone to be evicted money come out of that also when you buy eviction tickets and finally Adverts. Every time Big Brother goes on a break whatever adverts are on during the break that company has to pay Channel 4 which then a percentage goes to Big Brother

It will often just come from the production/TV company that makes the programme. Game shows are pretty cheap to make, even with big prizes, especilly compared to a big Drama, and lots of people will watch a good game show, thus keeping the advertisers happy.
