Yellow lights put off too much heat. They'll die if they do lol. Same reason why they dont fly towards the sun.
White lights put off enough heat to attract them at night. Thats why us humans like to zapp them with a white light or a hazzy blue light.
They both attract them the best.

This is because in a white light exists the whole range of colors. Like if you put a prism by it, you would see a rainbow. However, in a yellow light, there is only yellow light. Good question!

Because florescent (white lights) are cooler and generate less heat whereas incandescent (yellow lights) are warmer and therefore generate more heat which makes them uncomfortable and would bur them if they get too close. Here in the Caribbean though, I find it varies cause they can be attracted to both types of lights.
