For males, it would either be an injury called a testicular torsion. Literally the testis turns on itself, cutting off all blood supply to the testis. If not resolved immediately, death of the testis can occur.
The other heinous injury would be a penile fracture. The penis does not have a bone in it, but does have a structure called the corpus cavernosum, translated to english, that means cave-like body. During erection, this cave fills with blood, providing the hardening of the penis. A penile fracture is a rip or tear in the wall of the corpus cavernosum. it causes blood to leak into the surrounding tissue.
Both injuries are very painful. They can be life-altering injuries. both can be caused by trauma or by natural causes.

I was 17, going into the Army, & had to be cut just to do the pelvic exam. I was a virgin, & my hymen was, and still is, very thick. There was no excuse for what happened to me. I did not pass the physical, so I didn't get into the Army. It was probably good that I had it cut, but the timing was really bad! My husband would never of been able to of consumated our marriage when I was 25 (almost 26) & he was 22 if it were not for having my hymen cut back then.
