America does NOT refer to the US. America, the continent was named after Amerigo Vespucci the explorer by the cartographer Martin Waldseemüller in 1507. This predates the United States being named as a nation by 276 years !!! (The US as a nation started existing in 1783).
So, with all historical accuracy, the nation of Mexico IS in America the continent, whose name has been equivocally hijacked time and time again by citizens of the United States to name their own country, which is only one portion of the whole continent.

My guess is your asking a somewhat political question that has to do with the number of Mexican nationals that are crossing the border for work in our country (USA). We are surely United States, but because we either a. do not have enough workers willing to take jobs as laborers or b. have companies not willing to pay the prevailing wage, we have people whose lives in Mexico cannot begin to earn even the low wage income they make here in their country. They come to the USA. We are as always, despite some peoples wishes, a land of opportunity for the tired, the poor, and the hungry.
