Most start to experiment with make-up at age twelve. Just simple lip gloss, maybe mascara. This is really too young and the do look silly. 14 is the age a girl will worry about her appearance. Her surroundings - the area where she lives, friends, income upper class-middle class, All determine how a girl presents herself. Parents are the finial say... Listen when they say it's too much. Remember, some girls never experiment, they dis-like the Fake Look. or just don't care for the whole process of putting it on evenly... Hope this helps. I have two step-daughters, two biological daughters..two nieces, and all the friends that go with them, Plus the boys and their friends...So, some begin wearing make up because; friends are, They feel un-attractive, or they think they are the prettiest thing on earth and want to be more.

Personally I started wearing makeup extremely young in life. My mom told me how to put it on when I was about 8, but I didnt really start until I was in middle school (12-13). Even now, I rarely use a full face of makeup, but put at least a little on every day.
Girls should wear makeup when they start to feel the need, and when their parents give them the OK to go. Most parents will allow their daughters to start wearing makeup slowly (like foundation first, then bush, then mascara) and at a certain age they are given the OK to do what they want.
Dont start to wear makeup until you feel the need to, and never do it because your friends do it. And, if your parents say no makeup, either use just a tiny bit to make yourself look good but not obvious, or dont do it all.
If you contact me I can give you my guide to putting on makeup.

My daughter is 12 and i think in today's society its important for preteen feel accept to a certain degree by their peers. Therefore i think this is an acceptable age to start. I start with just the basic lip gloss, to enhance their natural beauty because natural is the way we adults want to look. I also allow her to experiment at home so she learns how to put it on correctly and safely. However she is not allowed out with makeup on except lip gloss, light shadow and light nail polish for now.

When they are preteens and teenagers, I didn't start wearing any until middle school, and that was like lipgloss, I didn't really start to wear it until high school. Most students in my school were wearing it in middle school, but that's just my experience.

well if the girl is almost a teenager she can start now but really light.... you have to control the make up she wears....... light colors is ok dont let your kid grow to fast....but is healthy for a girl to feel girly and want to wear a little make up the key is to set rules and that way both of you can be happy..im raising my step daughter and she is seven so i dont allow make up yet but i do buy her those barbie make up things that are mostly glow stuff and lipgloss and she is happy with those...rules she knows that she has to be 13 before she gets to try the light real stuff.... good luck.

I put a bit of lipstick when I was 11 'cause my lips were (and still are) very pale! I didn't like it for some reason... three years later now, I put a bit of mascara and lipstick about three/four times a week. I really like being just natural sometimes though. And sometimes I like practicing a more "advanced" makeover on myself for fun and trying out new looks. And I could never be a celebrity 'cause they just make fake images of themselves with all that makeup caked on their faces!

That depends on the parents. My mom let me start when I started middle school. I let my daughter start wearing a little makeup in 6th grade. Some parents make them wait until high school, or even later.
