ok.. I love their music. I do think that we all are welcome to voice our opinions. That is what freedom of speech is all about.
BUT... for them to go to another country and say the crap they did about our President is WRONG.
I do think they got a raw deal from the Country Music Stations but.. like somebody else said. Their fan base is a pretty conservative group and they kinda screwed themselves. Just when everything was kinda easing off they went and mouthed off again. I don't know why they think we want to hear what their political veiws are. I am sure they could care less about mine.
I think Tom Cruise is a pretty good example of what can happen when you piss your fans off
My Motto: America.. Love it or Leave it

i think the DixIE's first mistake was that they are actually talented musicians, ie they play instruments and don't just have a studio band like most country stars these days...i think the country music industry was just looking for an excuse to drag them down because the music industry prefers people who look the part but have little talent so they have more control over what the artist puts out there plus they can pay people like that less.
i think their second mistake was that they didn't say more nasty things about bush(the guy can barely read the script the oil companies hand him)
i think the fact that so many dumb *** people jumped on the bandwagon against the chicks just shows how dangerously close to fascism America has come.

The Dixie Chicks are just a wonderful group. full of life and energy not afraid to voice an opinion. Great Americans with courage.

I think the media and certain people reacted unamerican because they were and are afraid that people will think.

You don't hear any protest music on the air. There is some really great thoughtful music and groups that should be heard.

This is AMERICA isn't it?

I think that they are American citizens and can say whatever they want because they are protected by the freedom of speech. However, what I dont agree with is that they are in the public eye so they shouldnt say or do things that would change the way people think, i.e. the dixie chicks hates bush so I do too.

No. I listen to music to be entertained. If I wanted to hear political views, I would watch CNN or a show where the commentators are educated in politics, went to school and are informed and could intelligently speak on the subject. Music is not a platform to run your mouth about political issues. If they want to do this, they should stop making music and go into politics. I am glad that I do not have to hear their inappropriate views when I turn on the radio, and I hope they are never played on the radio again. If these chicks have such a problem with the people who run this country and how they run it, then they should get out of this country. I love this country and want to share it with citizens that feel the same way. These chicks are verbal terrorists and traitors.

Well, personally, I agree with the Dixie Chicks in their assessment of GWB. But as Blulinr says, I don't listen to them for their political opinions. I can't imagine anyone saying "The Dixie Chicks (or ANY celebrity) wants me to vote for something, so I will." The biggest problem I have with what they said is that their main fan base is in fairly conservative areas, and what they said was insulting to their primary fan base.

We all have an opinion about things, and it doesn't mean I have to agree with them, however, as far as music is concerned, I enjoy the sound of the Dixie Chicks, they are talented.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion...HOWEVER...I believe that they should've kept their mouths shut, especially in another country where millions of people heard what they said. I'm also from Texas, and am proud that George Bush hails from my home state. I voted for him both times and am glad I did. I used to like the Dixie Chicks, but don't any longer A) because of that comment B) because they forget where they come from and are too big for their britches. Did you notice that they had to cancel several tour dates because of low ticket sales? Woohoo!

Same as Josh, plus a Willie's Place fan too, Outlaw Country on XM, Bluegrass channel on XM, Pandora, Internet radio, Larry's Country Diner (I believe that's on RFD, isn't it?), Susie McEntire Luchsinger's Cowboy Church (also an RFD program... I'm a frequenter of the RFD network!), and a lot of random gospel country and bluegrass that I come across on the Internet, radio, family, etc... Got a family full of Southern Missionary Baptist gospel singers, so I'm mainly a country gospel fan. I am a fan of the classics too, so a lot of my stuff just comes from listening to the old standards...
