From what I've seen so far, they're the only ones that don't. The rest fall to the ground seemingly writhing in pain if an opponents jersey touches them. Pathetic.

Ginny: Saw it, plenty of dives by both teams, and 2 bogus redcards.

Nsargraves: You wish I was gay, but that's really besides the point.

CorazonBrasileno: I remember Ronaldo's stunt. It seemed obvious he was faking, I couldn't believe the ref sent the Turkish player off. Of course, by kicking the ball at Rolando the way he did he was asking for it.

I'm not even sure about the Japanese, but I agree, it's totally pathetic If I was a player I'd be worried about being seen to be such a wuss as to fall down crying at the slightest contact.

It doesn't help that FIFA have warned officials AGAINST issuing yellow cards against divers!

I hadn't noticed that about the Japanese, but you're right. Like fighting in hockey, I think exaggerating fouls is simply part of football. Someone trips you and you wrinkle up your face, fall to the ground, grab your leg and writhe in pain like you just got shot or something. Hopefully the ref will think the trip was really bad and at least award the foul if not yellow-card the other player.

This is funny. Several years ago ... I think it was during WC2002 ... Ronaldo was about to take a corner kick and an angry opponent kicked the ball to him rather hard. He grabbed his face and went down. Well, they red-carded the other player for this. Later, in looking at the replay it was discovered that the ball actually hit Ronaldo in the leg. I think he received a red card and a monetary fine.

Yeah, every team fakes it. Especially, the free kick area where they can create a goal from the free kick. I think the refs should show yellow card if they catch them do that.

i agree these players are way over acting every little fall, and everyone is guilty of it, i haven't seen any Japan games so i cannot say that they do it or not, but all the teams i have seen do it. some times soccer players can be such drama queens.
