Hello dear!
Short question which requires long answer!
There are hundreds of places worth visiting in Crete!
Historical Sites: Crete is the first discovered place with extended civilization in Europe, and not only! As a matter of fact, Europe started from Crete! Her father was from the Cretan royal family! Thus, places you "must" see:
Knossos, Historical Museum of Heraclion (among the best worldwide, based on exhibit items), Phaestos, Gortys, Aptera, Zacros, Itanos, Ideon Andron, Dikteon Andron, ...
From medieval times, you can see just being in Crete, especially n large cities, Heraclion, Chania, Rethymnon, Sitia, Agios Nikolaos, ....
Crete has unique natural beauties, thus every corner will offer you special surprises, places to go: Samaria Gorge, Lakes of Kourna and Zaro, Ida, there are several caves, Matala, etc.,....
The Sea World, outside of Heraclion, ...
If you are scientist, there are Universities and institutes in most cities.
Well, I have mentioned just a few! Any guide, printed or through Internet can offer you pictures, exact locations, etc.
Have fun! Returning from Crete you will be wiser, smarter, more beautiful and fulfilled, closer to divinity!
