B. The passage suggests that much of Canadian thought and viewpoint are influenced by the vast spaces in Canada.

It's not A since national character is mentioned as a result of the uninhabited land.

It's not C for the same reason.

It's not D since that idea is not even mentioned in the passage.

If I were to guess, I'd pick B. Artists are obtuse by nature, they see a masterpiece, others see an obstacle. It would be interesting to know if this were an opinion question or a multiple choice question based on notes. I would think that the mere expanse of unoccupied land in Canada, the climate and the hopes and plans for the future would not only influence artists but musicians and developers alike.
