Freedom of religion. That is what this country was founded on. But I think the big uniter is the "American Dream". That this country is a place where you can be a nobody and turn into a bilionare software owner, or a kid living in the bad part of town and become a mayor, or President, or teacher, or famous athelete. Or be walking down the street and be discovered as a singer, actress, or model. Or grow up in the slums and become a doctor one day. Or just be able to earn enough money that you have a decent house and food in your belly every night. The American Dream has brought countless immigrants to these shores and gives little kids (and grown adults!) big dreams for tomorrow.
