Absolutely! You know our situation's dire when a school for pregnant teens is opening up a 5th and 6th grade class! (It has in my state.) In those grades girls can be as young as 10 or 11! Obviously someone isn't doing their job!
How do I feel? I'm not sure where to place my feelings if at frustration or anger. I'm a teacher. I notice many things. For example, I've noticed that more grandparents are taking on the job of raising grandchildren. I've noticed that more and more children come from divorced families. Not that that's a problem, but parents don't get along or the child doesn't see one of them, that's a problem. This past year, only one of my children, out of a class of 20 had both parents at home!
I've noticed that more mothers and fathers are using the TV as a babysitter. What happens? More of our young girls watch MTV and think that it's okay to go out looking like a BRATZ doll at a young age. In my personal opinion, those dolls aren't appropriate for young girls. The media is selling kids a sexual identity that they shouldn't even think about until they're way older.
The biggest problem, is that parents aren't doing their jobs. We need to be speaking to our kids, spending time with them, loving them, not sitting them in front of the TV and expecting schools &
teachers to impart morals & values! Let's do our job as parents people!
You all know what happens to these young moms and their babies! Welfare system, food stamps, housing...we, taxpayers, hard working people, end up paying for it in the end. It's all a never ending cycle, and it takes a lot to break out from under it. Do we want a society like that?

it is a crying shame! children having children! teenagers do not have the life experience to be successfully raising children of their own, not to mention they have no marketable skills and cannot even get jobs in most cases. it is not right.
the youngest i have actually seen was an 11 year old when i was a medic in the us army and was stationed in an army hospital working the maternity ward. i was horrified! a child needs a mother and a father. i hope these children are helped in to making the right decisions and putting these babies up for adoption in to stable two parent homes. atleast then these babies will will be less likely to suffer the same fate as their preteen and teen parents. at 13 i was still playing with baby dolls and not the real thing. also i feel that an 11 year old having a baby does not have what it takes to make the decisions concerning a newborN. if there are no responsible parents involved then the courts need to get involved for the welfare of the child parent and the new baby. where are the parents of these children having children!!!!!

I have heard of a ten year old having a baby, but I most deffinatly would not suggest that. A girls body needs time to develope into a woman before she should have children. It can be very damaging to a girls body to deliver a baby when she is not mature enough, and all of the risks including DEATH are much higher.
If you are a young girl I strongly syggest that you wait before you have children. I know it sounds like a blast to have babies and be a mother, but it's really not all fun all the time. In fact, it is quite hard and you will take away a big part of your life if you give up your childhood/teenage years now. It is really best to wait until you are in your 20's at least, so your maturity levels and your health is in its best.
You should speak to a doctor before trying to conceive. If you are already pregnant, you should also go see a doctor immediatly. Good luck.

Yes girls are having babies way too young nowadays. The youngest I've heard of a girl having a baby was when she was 10. I know her too. She is an adult now. Prob in her 40's.

Yes, in my opinion kids are worrying about sex way too young. The youngest one I've heard of is 12 but snopes has one at i think 5 or something like that. What these kids don't realize is that you are not really in love at 12 years old. You can't be in love until you know yourself. At 12 how can you really know yourself and what you want out of life? You feel like you do and that your "boyfriend/girlfriend" is the only one for you but really that hardly ever happens.
Sex carries great emotional repercussions if you're not ready. Even some who wait until adulthood are still not really ready or realize after they did it that they shouldn't have or that the person is not really the one for them. Sex is not just a "toy" to be used for your enjoyment like it has been made out to be. With the right person it can be wonderful and safe and intimate and a bond of commitment but it is not something to take lightly. Once your virginity is gone it's gone. There is no such thing as being a "born again virgin" or whatever it is they call it.
Anyway... how good can a 12 year old boy be anyway? Girls trust me... the risk of disease and pregnancy is not worth it.

Yes, many people are having children too young. Kids should really be spending the time to get an education rather than to fulfill the overwhelming desire they have to obtain "true love" at such a young age and to experience adulthood too early by having sex with the first person who asks.
The youngest girl ever to have a baby was a five-year-old girl from Peru. You can read about it here: http://www.snopes.com/pregnant/medina.asp

The youngest i just found out yesterday was 9 years old and she had a 13 lb. baby. WOW......She is just a baby herself. She lives like 10 miles from me. I just thought it was a shame. I mean she still needs to be babysat herself. Where were the parents or guardians? Who slept with this little girl? It hurts my heart on how parents can be so neglectful these days.

Absolutely! I know a 13 year old that just had a baby. Kids, are no longer kids; they're having sex and making babies, and missing out on all of the fun of being a teenager! It's really a shame that kids are raising kids themselves, and never really have the opportunity to find out what life's really all about. There's so much more, to learn and enjoy, than just having sex.
