pseudo- is an element of greek origin. it means - approximately - 'fake'.

a pseudonym is a false name (such as an author's pen-name). a pseudocyesis is a phantom pregnancy.

a pseudo-intellectual (regularly abbreviated to just 'pseud') is someone who pretends to be clever and informed, but is neither.

though most often the term 'pseud' is used by people who don't know much to refer to people who do.

A 'psuedo-intellectual' is someone who is posing as an intellectual. It is not a compliment. You just do more research with that little button down below your answer box that says wikipedia or yahoo search. If you are right the answer should be pretty easy to find. Then you put the http code into your source for verification. That ought to stop this individual from calling you names.

You mean pseudo- intellectual? It means someone who pretends to be smart and really isn't.

I read his post and I think you should point out to him that he needs to learn how to spell.

Pseudointellectual is a pejorative term used to describe someone who engages in false intellectualism or is intellectually dishonest. The term is often, though not always, used to describe one who regularly critiques the work of professionals, while lacking the requisite background knowledge and experience to have an informed opinion (e.g., an armchair quarterback).

It means that you're trying to be something you're not. In other words, you're trying really hard to be an intellectual but it isn't working. The definition of pseudo (and you should point out he spelled it wrong) is: being apparently rather than actually as stated : SHAM
