Honestly I couldn't tell you what I believe in. But I can tell you that I don't believe in God. I think people use God and religion just to understand life and the world, because as humans we always have to understand everything around us. We are never just satisfied with not knowing. I think no man is possible of figuring out how this world was created. The world and life is way too complicated. That's why I don't believe in God because a man wrote the bible. Its a great story with great philosophy and morals in it, but it is all way too far fetched. Imagine hearing that story today for the first time ever, with out it ever being passed down through history; you would probably think it would make a great Disney movie, and the person trying to make you believe it was crazy.
I am not trying to discourage any one from believing. Some people need to believe in order to make it through life, because to them it helps understand life and their reason for living, and that is just fine. Different things work for different people.
I live life day to day knowing that I believe in my self, and I am capable of doing whatever I put my mind to. I don't thank God for every successful thing I accomplish in life. Until I find out whats really out there, (which may not be in my lifetime) I can only believe in myself.

"Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days."

I don't think I believe in God as most people see Him, but I think I believe in something higher out there. I'm a Unitarian Universalist (my religion) and we UUs don't believe that we should be told what to believe. I have my whole life to figure out what I believe, and it may change, but for now, something sort of like Mother Nature sounds like a good "god" to believe in.

I believe in Humanity, I believe that you can live a happy life. I believe in simplicity, It is not gadgets or clothes that make you happy, but family and good friends. I believe that humans are intelligent, (though that last one is a position of faith, and goes against all the evidence.) I believe that we need to stop and talk and think, and then act.

I'm a nihilist - I believe that nothing outside the material world exists. Spirituality for me is the enjoyments of the arts, and the special relationships that I can have with other humans, and evens some animals.
