I'm 22 year old and my menstral cycle has been very odd lately. Normally, i'm about 3-7 days off (later) of the 28 day schedule and I'm pretty consitant. The last few months have been really strange though. In March I was a day early and very heavy, April: about 9 days late and light, May I was a week early and heavy and tomorrow (June 20th) I'll be two weeks late... My insurance doesn't kick in until July1st so I don't want to see an MD just yet. I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem or knows how to deal with it.

I know my BS is good, I've check it at a friends house a couple times. As far as stress goes... maybe... I just graduated college and started a new job, and my husband has been my sanity!!

take a pregnancy test then start birth control. I had the same problem when I turned 22-23 and and switched my birth control and I've been regular and light and only 3 days instead I used to be like 7 heavy days. Go to a plan parenthood if you have one neer you. Look in the phone book for pregnacy places and they will have a free clinic than can help you our with this stuff, I got my birth control and got tested at plan parent hood for 2 years they were great and they were free!

Are you very active or thin? I heard that you are active your cycle changes or if you have very little body fat your cycle either changes or goes away. I'm not a doctor or anything, but I have heard that. Or have you also been stressed out? I also know that stress can be a factor of a late period (from experience). My best advice is to go to the doctor when your coverage kicks in. Even when you do get your period, go.

A menstrual cycle can be off by too much stress. Do you have a lot of stress in your life?
A job, boyfriend/husband, family? If you do, then that is probably the reason for your problem.

Sounds like feminine hormone imbalance to me. When your insurance kicks in, ask your doctor for the saliva test, to check and see what your hormone levels are. Also ask for a fasting blood insulin test. Insulin imbalances can bring on feminine hormonal imbalances.
You may want to check out www.hufa.org for more info on high insulin and how to get it checked, and other symptoms of hyperinsulinemia.

low-dose oral contraceptive sometimes can help regulate your period.
my guess is that it's stress, in any case you can wait for a checkup.
