He is alcoholic and needs help but refuses to get help himself . Is there any kind of law where I can force or have him committed before he hurts himself or someone else?

is he breaking the law? We had my SIL committed but she broke the law. they threatened her that they were going to turn her in if she didn't go for help and she said she didn't care that she would just kill herself. Once they say they are going to committ suicide Wammy you have yourself an in. Call the police and tell them he is threatening suicide. It really sucks and is really hard but she needed it and she is doing MUCH better now. Best of Luck!

Alot of states you can have him committed if you get three signatures. Talk to a local treatment center and see what they suggest.

no, all U can do is, support him, and be there for him when he hits rock bottom...
he is the only one who can make the decision to go for help..and I hope it will be soon, then its very hard to watch someone to destroy himself..done that, been there, with my Son...
