Geez so many to choose from, I have a few ideas, but first I think the formula for how bad a sequel is, should be that you consider, how good was the movie before it and how much does the sequel drop off from that & generally disappoint....having said that here's my top 10 worst sequels....
10...Star Trek 5, easily the worst of the franchise!, while #4 was likely the best.
9...Highlander 2 the quickening, the first is a cult classic, but the second is just a waste, the changed the storyline from the first and nothing makes sense.
8...Grease 2, from instant classic, to instant crapola
7...The God Father Part 3, the first two are amoung the best films of all time, Three is quite lacking in the company of the first two!
6...Revenge of the Nerds 2, falls way short of the laughs in the classic original.
5...Batman & Robin, this film nearly killed the franchise, thank god for Chris Nolan.
4...Superman 4 the quest for peace, of cousre Superman Returns should take this bad taste out of our mouths, can't wait for that.
3...Caddy Shack 2, seriously, It so pales in comparrison to the first I'd rather go to the denist than watch this piece of crap!
2...Speed 2, are they kidding with this plot?
1...Rocky 5, but wait six is on the way, so we may have a new number one after all.
Honorable mention...Jaws 3-D/Jaws 4, Garfield 2, Escape from L.A.(sequel to escape from New York) & Aliens 3 & 4
As for those who say Star Wars Episode I the Phantom Menace, no movie that makes 400 million plus (Top 5 all-time), domestic box-office can be that much of a disapointment....

Starship infantrymen 2 & 3 are terrible however the lost Boys sequels have been particularly undesirable and Termors 4,5, are ridiculous however the Worst Sequel ever made is Indiana Jones and the dominion of the Crystal cranium. Now that became a shitty video clips If i ever observed one

Well I'm no judge or anything, but I was severely dissapointed with the sequels to The Matrix. The first part was really good and they took four years on the sequel so I really expected alot. I haven't been so disgusted with a sequel in a long time.
