I live in the OC and I would recommend it to anyone. Here's why: While housing prices are still high, Orange County offers more prospects for jobs. If you were not able to find a job in the OC, it's not that far to Los Angeles. There are so many attractions here that it makes Orange County a perfect pivot point to embark on other adventures in San Diego, Los Angeles or the San Bernardino mountains (snowboarding at Mt. High or camping). Traffic is all around here in San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange County. The OC has a much better freeway system than Los Angeles (with most of them utilizing carpool lanes). Also housing is relatively newer. All in all a great place. Good Luck

I'm assuming you are talking strictly about counties. You are labeling one county and one city, but San Diego is also a county.
Orange County has a better job market, I won't lie on that one.
San Diego County (both north and south counties) are so much fun that it's almost hard to talk about. Carlsbad in North San Diego County is a laid back beach town. The Gas Lamp District in the southern side of the county (city) is ridiculous on weekends.

The only things that interest me in Orange County are Disneyland and maybe Knott's Berry Farm. Otherwise, San Diego is the place for me.

I would prefer Orange County because according to The show The O.C. They surf there, party there, and it is a wealthy and a good place with good suburban neighborhood.
It is ranked 5th in one of the best counties in the U.S.
