I write long poems...about things in the world and my take on them...but mostly I write love (good or bad) or dark poetry...and I write it becasue it is something I like to do and am good at. It makes me feel good to know I can write and it is nice to show others your work and have it appreceated. I am inspired by music too...

Hi there. I'm a published fantasy author. My newest hard cover book came out in April and is available at most libraries and all the usual places online. The title is THE BLACKGLOOM BOUNTY. It's a medieval fantasy epic with lots of mysticism, magic and mayhem.
This book took about 3 years to write and another 2 years to get published. It has been reviewed very highly in the mainstream media and is being considered for a movie production.
In most of my books, the characters do all the writing--I just sit back and type the words onto the computer screen. My advice to aspiring writers is, always try to think out of the box. For example, what would happen if you had a dragon that kept falling asleep as it flew over the countryside? Messy, huh?
And last but not least, write every day, whether you want to or not. That's how you become a true writer. Study your grammar and spelling! Most computer spell-checkers will NOT catch mistakes like using "affect" instead of "effect" or "you're" instead of "your".
Trust me, it's worth all the effort and time when you hear, "Your book is like Braveheart meets the Lord of the Rings," which a Hollywood producer just said to me a few days ago. I hope this helps. Good luck with your writing.

Poet. The teacher assured me poetry is a teenage angst thing- all females do it but still writing after 15 years I can't say that was the case. Why do I write? Its a gift from God. What do I write- mostly I write for others- I have this ability to write a poem quickly if I am given one word- words flow onto the page. I really should do more but too busy working, living. Not a lot of time to enjoy the gift.

I wish I had the ability to write poems that soothed the heart and entertained the mind. I think this would be a true gift and since I only have ever written two poems I can never be called a writer, sigh!

I write, and would consider myself a writer, but I write for myself. I like to write short stories, usually fiction. I have written poems in the past but every poem I've tried to write recently has sounded forced. I write because I need to, I love writing, it's one of the most creative ways to use your imagination. I love creating a character and then making a life for them, giving them friends and things to... it's very fulfilling.

I like to write poems and short stories, I find this is a good way of expressing myself.. Sometimes it is good therapy..
Like what happened when I saw the Twin Towers fall on t.v. in Australia..
Twin Towers..
Have you ever seen the children, in the war torn places?
On t.v. you watch, their young, old faces.
Buildings coming down, bullets all around.
And God did you see, the Twin Towers fall?
For the lands of free, this is our wake up call.
Since the beginning of time, in the world over the years.
Somewhere you'll find, there has been blood baths and tears.
The after effects of war, the spread of disease.
Sadness, anger, the growing feeling of unease.
And God did you see, the Twin Towers fall?
For the lands of the free, this is our wake up call.
Because of race, religion and politics,
Different cultures come to grief.
At the borders frictions run hot, with hatred bubbling underneath.
Thousands flee homes, governments keep lying,
And so it goes, the madness, the sick and the dying.
And God didn't you see, the Twin Towers fall?
For the lands of the free, this is our wake up call.
And so turns the meloncholy merry-go-round,
Of praying the horror never repeats.
Of our fathers, brothers and sons, going off to war,
To do heroic feats.
War reaks havoc on people and places,
It leaves its mark on their unhappy faces.
And God did not you see, the Twin Towers fall?
One day soon there will be no sound,
In your Garden of Eden, at all..

I love to write poetry, it really eases my mind and helps me get through some pretty tough emotions sometimes. I write to keep in touch with myself, as a diary somewhat. It isn't good to keep emotions bottled up inside and I love to be creative, so writing poetry is a way to keep both of those things flowing nicely

I am a poet. I write about myself - about things that have happened to me and how I feel about it. I suppose I am a confessional type of poet. My subjects have included relationships, friendship, love, sex, and loneliness. I write because it's my talent, my only talent - thank G-d I have such a talent.
