I want you to tell me who your favorite band is. I mean of all time.
Like, mine are Led Zeppelin for classic rock and Pearl Jam for newer rock. Also, tell me why you chose this band. Only people who tell me why (It also helps if I agree with you) will get 10 points.

Okay, you have to tell me why you like the band. Somebody criticized me for not telling why I like these bands: so here goes.

Older rock: Led Zeppelin. Do I really have to say why here? They are amazing. Page and Plant are rock gods, and Bonham drums with the "Hands of God".

Newer: Pearl Jam because at a time where pop and rap dominate the mainstream, PJ are still here from the 90s, still making kick-*** music. Every song, record to record, is amazing. Check out their new record, and tell me that Pearl Jam aren't good anymore.

Rolling Stones. A few years ago this would have been a good question. No other band has stayed together so long, or had their own sound so completely. These guys took their inspiration from R&B and whatever else made them dance. The Stones is intelligent these days, understanding that they have a place in history and trying to give some respect to the genre that has provided the stage for them to play on for so long. It is no accident that the Stones played at the most recent Super Bowl as well as Super Bowl I (ok, right after the game). Mick has withstood the test of time. I've seen them live, next to the stage, and finally understand the thrill of the eternal energy. Keith Richard is kept alive by this phenomenon. Led Zepplin, Crosby Stills Nash, Beatles, etc. were great in their contribution, but the Stones continue to deliver. Buy 40 Licks and you won't be disappointed. Go to a Stones concert now if you can ... age will catch up soon ... while you can.

I love Nirvana for older rock because they changed music in a big way. I think they opened doors for the grunge/punk scene.
As for newer bands, I would have to say Rage Against The Machine. They are genius. Zach was smart by voicing his opinion through music in this way. And I agree with most of what he says about our government.
But you didn't tell us why you like Led Zeppelin and Pearl Jam.?

Black Sabbath! They are more influentail than any other band on this list so far. They created just about every kind of Metal and paved the way for hundreds of bands, Metal and Rock alike.
For newer stuff, Rebel meets Rebel are the most innovative. It was created by the ex members of Pantera (Dimebag, Vinnie and Rex) and Country singer David Allen Coe. Nothing else sounds like this, Hardcore Pantera speed and brutality with a Country singer!

Led Zeppelin r the best rock band of all time. reason- stairway to heaven, need I say more. They r all excellent musicians as well.
Guns 'n' Roses r the best glam rock band. I think Buddy Holly and the Crickets were an important band because without them there would be no Beatles, and I think that The Beatles r probably the best band ever to have lived.

Best band ever was the Beatles- it all started with them. Innovative and influential. However the Beatles weren't exactly
"Rock".
So, yeah, I'd have to agree with Led Zeppelin. Extremely innovative and influential.
Newer bands- I'd have to stay with Metallica although I'm not a huge fan of their more recent stuff.

I Like The Damned the Best! They had raw energy, made great songs and Live, they were over the top! Sod those boring prehistoric bands! As far as newer, I like The Soviettes because the unique way they write, sing and play songs...you'll never be bored! Watch out for The Ruptured Cockamamies too!! Name sounds funny but wow!!

The Beatles. Why? Well it's because THEY'RE THE FREAKIN' BEATLES!!!
Seriously, it's because their music is timeless. And you can understand all the words. They've got records that have never and will never be broken. (All the top 3 or 5 spots at the same time, nobody will ever do that again)
Led Zepplin? Just sounds like a bunch of cats to me.
