an iPod is built by Apple Computers, an MP3 player by anybody else...

The biggest difference between an Ipod and any other MP3 player is that once tunes are on the device, Apple makes transferring files off the Ipod difficult. If you don't care to exercise this function it doesn't really matter. Some MP3 players do not support the AAC format, which Apple does. I personally prefer a non-Apple device, as I want something smaller than an Ipod and don't feel I need to carry every song in my library at once.

An iPod is an mp3 player made by the Apple Corporation (the company that makes Macintosh computers.) It is the most popular brand of mp3 player (which plays media files) on the market. Other manufacturers include, but are not limited to, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony etc. Don't worry - they all play music!

iPODs don't play MP3s they play apples own music format that you get by buying music from iTunes or ripping your CDs with iTunes. I personally like to call iPODS iFRAUDS because you are paying so much money for so little hard drive space.

With a regular MP3 player they are a lot less expensive for the amount of hard drive space you get. Also with MP3s you can adjust the bit rate at which you rip your music so you can have higher quality (larger file size, can't fit as many songs) or lower quality (smaller file size you can fit more songs).

For MP3 players I would personally recommend the creative nomad, it is bigger than an iPOD but it holds 40 GB of music and it costs a lot less than the 40GB iPOD.

One last thing, if someone sees you with an iPOD and they don't have one already. They most likely are going to try to steal yours since they are the hot new item. If you have a regular MP3 player it's a lot less likely to get stolen.
