we can't afford to turn on the a/c that much, so at night everyone in my family is usually dripping with sweat trying to go to sleep.
and i have a lizard in my room, so during the day her heat lamps heat up my room even more!! and i can't move the lizard out of my room, and i can't turn up the a/c, any ideas??
i have barely slept in the past couple of days and i kno that it is only gonna get hotter...

my parents won't let me lock my door (stupid, i kno..), so i have to sleep in decent flesh-covering pjs in case my bro walks into my room during the night (which he does alot).

it will only provide a little relief but get you couple fans and set them close to your bed blowing on you. and sleep in the smallest tank top and undies you have. or if you can lock your door you can sleep nakie.

Depending on where you live, it might be beneficial to open the windows at night when it is cooler outside, and then - if possible - use a fan to blow cool air in, or at least direct it toward you to evaporate your sweat and cool you down.

Another thing you could do is temporarily share a bedroom with a family member who doesn't have a pet that requires a heat lamp, as his or her room is probably a little cooler.

Finally, I resorted to taking my showers at night during the summer instead of in the morning. If you take a cool shower before you go to bed, it helps you cool off so that you aren't initially so hot, and then you might be able to go to sleep before you start sweating again.

I hope this helps! Sweet dreams, lol! =)

If you have a decent basement, try sleeping there. Its what I do since the cost of energy is high and keeps rising as the temperature goes up..
Other than that, there is really no good answer to your problem, this summer is going to be bad and no relief is in sight..
You might want to try blocking your windows during the day with a think dark material and opening the windows when it gets dark and put a fan in one of them near your bed.
also sleep with as little clothing as possible..
good luck, I know exactly how you feel

Can you afford to run a fan. If not I would suggest taking a cool shower before you go to bed, put some powder on so you'll feel dry & sleep in the least amount of clothes as possible.

can you afford a fan? or get rid of the lizard and let it outside for the summer...? who is more important, the lizard, or you? also, darken the room with curtains or hang towels or something to keep the heat out during the day and it willl be cooler at nite....

Try to get a fan or two
In fact we have like, five fames in our house
open a window
sleep with underwear and a shirt and no blanket
put a wet face cloth on your head
or somewhere at night
you a cold bottle of water to drink and put
more on the face cloth
it helps for me :)

it's that hot and the lizard still needs heat lamps? weird.
sorry, get rid of the lizard.
you can keep your home cooler by preventing the sun from striking the walls.
if you can't alter that, try throwing water on the hot exterior walls and the roof: evaporation of the water will cool your home.

Why don't u try sleeping with all your windows open? I live without a/c (we don't have one in the house ) & believe me I live in a Tropical country where the temp gets upto 35 to 40 deg celsius. I don't have that much of a problem. U just have to get used to it that is all.

you should get a job and get the a/c turned back on and if you alredy have a job get a second one or work different hours and while you wait go to a different room and sleep and get some fans to get air into the house to cool it down.

dont turn the ac on during the day so you can have it on at night instead. during the day go swimming or something while your parents are at work then you can stay cool all the time!
