My favorite sport is ski racing. The best thing about it is, if you have a bad run or mess up in the course, all it takes is another good run, just down the slope, to make you feel better. The whole sport is not just the competitive racing, there is so much free skiing involved that it is impossible to come off a mountain upset about your performance in the course.
I love the exhiliration the speed and the beauty gives me. My maximum speed is when I'm free skiing down a black diamond, but it is incredibly cool when I can reach those speeds in a well-set GS. I love skiing because it is something your body does; when I say I'm a racer, people assume I race motorcross or some other device. It's just me, the skis and the mountain, and it's my hard work that wins races. I know people who don't like skiing when the weather conditions are bad, but when you've been skiing as long as I have, you see and apreciate the beauty in the nastiest ski day; skiing is beautiful in itself.
