I hope so, they need to step into the 21st century or die quietly, personally I'm hoping for the latter.

As an institution, I think the Catholic Church is Excellent. True, there are scandals, but arn't the "biggest organisms noticed first under the microscope." If you look deeper.. .any institution run by man isn't perfect. as for it being old fashion and traditional, I see no problem in showing proper reverance to the Lord. If that means, standing, kneeling, standing...adhering to all kinds of rituals, I see no problem w/ that. Afterall, "would you wear slippers and shorts to visit the president? would you show him/her proper reverance?" how much more for the Lord. What is wrong with having Easter Sunday mass instead of going to an Easter Egg hunt? what does bunnies and eggs have to do w/ Christ? Don't we need more institutions like that in this day in age where everything is driven by the dollar? People have a problem with the Catholic church because they are too strict and they are for old people, but aren't they being strict because they want their followers to follow a way closest to god? Isn't that what is most important these days? Nothing wrong with w/ having purest of purest ideals.. .like Jesus. I think people also get the vibe that if do something that the church disagrees with that they are kicked out from the church because they don't follow the church to the "T". I find that to be not so, as a practicing "SUNDAY'" catholic, I can have my rock-n-roll and still love Christ. Afterall, we are all human beings, not god. Catholic members are human. They make mistakes just like you and I. Jesus knew this. "HELL, WASN'T NOT PETER WHO DENIED CHRIST 3 TIMES", but yet God still had him do is work? But, as long as I can see that they are acting in the manner that would promote the teachings of christ and that would help aid non-believers to believe.. .I will continue to follow. The minute they say: "kill someone and it is justified or steal and it is justified. . .let me know." The Catholic Church may go down in flames by others but as long as their ideas, principles, etc. remain true.. .I'll go down w/ her.

I think so. I'm not sure about the data on it. All those pedophile priests in the Boston area didn't help gain new followers much though.
