I'm supportive of the freedom to choose. The U.S. has no right to be in a woman's uterus. Whether or not it's ethical is deeply personal, an answer derived from the person's beliefs. I do think it's disgusting how many elected officials use fetuses for political gain, something both parties are guilty of.
And something I've never understood is this: conservatives are "pro life," but support the murder of convicted criminals.
Democrats are "pro choice," but fight hard to protect the lives of mass murderers.
The hypocrisy is just incredible.

Abortion is not a good choice, but it may be appear to be the best of those that are available.
It is an over used institution. Some women use it as their regular form of contraception and get one almost every month. Others do it at during a desparate moment.
What are the alternatives? Some say that removing the option of abortion will force people (usually force women in particular) to be more responsible for their actions. Perhaps it might, but then we end up with a generation or two or many of "lesson children".
Some say that carrying to full term then adoption is the right answer. In some cases that is the right answer, but it takes a lot of fortitude to give up the child.
A few point out that each child is a gift from God, and must be appreciated. Unfortunately, not all people feel that way at the moment they are dealing with an unexpected or unwanted pregnancy, and are overwhelmed.
There are a lot of sides to this problem, not all of which are in the open. Some are trying to be good in the eyes of God, and feel that others should be too. Some would like to belong to a nation which is truly spiritual and righteous. Some hate the "new morality" or the openness of society and are using this and the moral high ground as a way to prove themselves. Some could care less about the uppity moralists and feel that they should be able to do whatever they feel. Some feel that whatever their choices are should be the choices of all and refuse to understand any other. Many are in between and confused.
Ok. How about a middle point. We have people who agree to be responsible, show others how to be responsible, set up the right support networks to help with adoption, child rearing, etc. For those cannot use them, do not wish to use them, or simply don't want any part of childbirth, there is abortion.
In the end, abortion will be with us but in a much diminished role. The folks who are of the ilk to not have children, won't have kids. Those who want them will, and will train their kids to be good parents.
As far as legality goes, abortion has been practiced for many thousands of years. It has occurred while legal, illegal, unproven, with dubious methods and good ones, at the cost of the mother's life in some cases. Keeping it legal at this point goes a long way toward stamping out the backroom abortions.
This is hardly a new problem. It is not an easy one. Keep talking and asking. There is a lot to learn from this issue. Your answers to it and your thoughts about it will quite possibly change throughout your life. That is growth. That is good.

That is probably one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. Abortion is murder, plain and simple. There are tons of families in the world that cannot make babies on their own. They want children so bad, and just can't make them. And then you have all of these stupid little hoes running around here making babies that they can't take care of and abusing the system. But I still don't believe abortion should ever be an option. It should be illegal. Go to one of those abortion websites and look at the pictures of the aborted babies. Hopefully, it will sway someone's opinions. When a woman is only 4 weeks pregnant, the heart is forming and blood is beginning to circulate. Everything develops so rapidly, and there are doctor's who will perform an abortion in the second trimester, when it is a formed fetus. It makes me sick. I am a woman and I like having the freedom to choose things for my own body. But I am not a murderer, and would never, ever consider abortion under any circumstances. Not even if I was raped. If I couldn't live with it, than another loving family should have the chance to. Adoption is always the best option.

Abortion is the killing of a life, at a few weeks the fetus has a heart beat. A child doesn't deserve to be treated bad. If anyone feels like they can not properly care for a child needs to find someone that will take care of them. Adoption is best if a parent doesn't want to care for the child, there are so many parents out there that can't have children and would do anything to have a child to care for and raise in a loving home. If someone is not responsible to prevent getting pregnant when they dont want kids, needs to be responsible and have the baby and give them to a loving family or someone that will properly care for them.

I am both pro choice and pro life. There are situations that the patient, the doctor & God need to make that decision. It is just that abortion should be used as birth control. Birth control needs to be controlled by contrceptives. If you prevent the pregency there isn't a need for an abortion.
We all have our own beliefs of when does a fetus become human. To me it is the moment of conception. For other people there are different answers.
If there is a woman on the street, constantly doing drugs and doesn't have the ability to care for herself let alone a baby. if she seacks out a abortion then I think that desision can't be legistated by a people or government.
Also there are many familys who don't have a child. Adoption is a gift of life to a loving family.
I personally gave birth to two boys. And my daughter is adopted. She may not be the child of my utersous, but she is the child of my heart and soul..
If you think a child will be tourtured once it is born you need to get ahold of someone in your city or county. Check out the phone book. Don't let any one place saw your mind one way or another. The thoughts on abortion run very wide. Take it all in and do what your heart tells you to do/. There will be extreems on both sides of the choice/prolife subject. Get all your information then make a choice.

No, I am not supportive of abortion. Their are so many people in the world who want babies and can not have their own. I think it is ashamed all these babies are being aborted when there are people waiting for their chance at being parents. It is a touchy situation, some people abort because they don't want to be parents and some don't have a choice because of a serious problem with the baby. Someone I know had to abort their baby because the baby (still in the womb) had a tumor on his head, buttocks and had an enlarged heart. The doctors said he would not had survived. The ones who do it because they are not ready to be parents should have thought about that before they decided to play grown-up!

Why does it have to be one or the other?
I was in a situation with my first child that abortion was pushed on me by more than one person. I raised above it came above the odds. Had my child and did much better for myself. Today she is a very healthy, thriving six year old. Well adjusted, respectful, friendly, loving and polite.
For people who do not want children they know where they came from. They know what to do to become pregnant. Why does a child have to pay for the choices that the parent makes?
There are other options including adoption.
There are millions of people who want children but can not have them. If I am lucky enough to be blessed with a child who am I to make that decision that the child will not have a chance at life???
Remember abuse comes in all shapes and sizes. It could be the rich couple down the street that everyone wants to be their children who are getting abused. They probably never even considered abortion. Also probably never even thought they would abuse their children. But they do.
Children who are abused have the chance of a future. Have the chance to raise above that and stop the cycle. Have the chance to make a difference in someone else's life. Have the chance to be someone and do something. Children who are aborted do not have that chance.

No abortion is not right. People shouldn't make a decision on killing an unborn child because they think they will torture it. That's just an excuse because they don't want to be responsible for their actions. Every situation is different but if anyone has a child out there they will know that abortion is just not the answer.

I am against abortion as a form of birth control.
There are certain situations that I would say OK, like rape, or incest. Or for a very young child. Or if the mother/fetus is in danger.
I do a lot of volunteering with teens and I always tell them that when it comes to abortion you have to be able to live with the decision that you make.
But I do think that this should be every woman's choice!

No, I don't support abortion and no I don't think it is ethical. I think that people make decisions, like the the decision to have sex, and then must accept the consequences for the decisions they made. In this case both the woman and man had freedom of choice - they chose to do something that can result in pregnancy. If they are not able to take care of a child then they should accept responsibility for their actions and place that child up for adoption (there are many families looking to adopt babies).
