Folic acid is the most important nutrient your baby needs. It is in most vitamins. You need at least 400 mcg a day. My doctor prescribed a really gross prenatal vitamin and told me I could also just take two Flinstones chewables. I take a hair vitamin (www.mikalclay.com) which is unbelievable excellent - have taken it pre-pregnancy as well (I think it helped my infertility) but my BEST SUGGESTION is the instant energy infusing SOURCE OF LIFE Liquid Vitamins. I buy them at Vitamin Shoppe. www.vitaminshoppe.com also sells them. Lastly, I have opted to take Fish Oil capsules, figuring that if they drastically help our brains to function they must be giving my little one a pre-birth advantage. How am I taking all of this? Well, I don't all at once. But I usually alter the times of day (awakening, bedtime, etc.) and try to balance out the nutrient consumption. I feel great, by the way, how about you? Congratulations!

if you can't handle the prenatal pills the dr has givin you, you could ask to take chewable vitamins, like flinstones. I couldn't handle takeing the prenatal pills, they were a bit big and tasted nasty when i broke them in half or crushed them up...so my OB dr put me on flinstone vitamins and i also had to continue takeing the chewable calcuim pill that comes with the prenatal pills, plus i had to start takeing folic acid and iron pills, when i was pregnant with my daughter!
