well, it's still nice...but too many third party seller nowadays there, who add their listings on a very low price with skyrocketing shipping and handling charges, and then the items don't even ship from them, no, they'll be coming from a warehouse where the seller will place the order once he sold the items which isn't even in his possession...

But without keeping them in consideration...it's great...ebay acquired Paypal some time back, so you have added security for your payments if the seller is messing around with you.

The old expression about buyer beware absolutely applies to eBay. If you're careful, things can work out fine.

Things keep improving in some areas and in others, not. I used to purchase items for my collection but more recently I've noticed the listings are the same recycled items from commercial sources. With every purchase, I learn something new. For example, be sure to ask that all the components are original to the item.

On a scale of 0 - 10, I like eBay 7.

I've been using Ebay for several years now, only got burnt once early on. Since then, I've saved a lot of money on products. Just research what you want to buy first. Figure out what retail will cost and then watch your item carefully to figure out what they are going for on Ebay. Set your top dollar that you want to pay for an item and check the feedback of the vendors you are thinking about buying from and dive right in. Most folks on Ebay are there to make money and not rip you off, just use a little common sense and don't get carried away on a item and bid on it just to win. I've seen items go for more than retail on Ebay, just because someone got stupid and kept on bidding. Good Luck.

It's okay until you get a crappy seller that scams you.

I had a friend who got ripped off 100.00 for some electronic equipment he never got.

I bought a wireless keyboard & mouse from one seller and it didn't work at all.

Be careful. Read their feedback rating to see if they have any problems. I avoid sellers with bad feedback or who trash/diss their customers. I think that ebay needs more regulation to prevent scams and abuse.

Other than that, you do get good deals and can find just about anything.

I've only gotten scammed once so far after 5 years on it. Don't go for anything soliciting donations in exchange for a "small gift". One lady was giving small penguin sculpture in exchange for donations, and my husband collects penguin figurines, she took the money and never sent anything and didn't respond to my emails so I gave her a negative rating after repeatedly warning her for a month that I would do so if she didn't respond.

I like it a lot. I've made some decent money selling a few items, and it is a great place for me to buy hard-to-find CDs for cheap. Of course, it can be dangerous for your budget if you buy too much...
