I like the Epson injet printers. Good quality on photos and text. Laser printers have a lot more speed but you really pay out the nose for a color laser printer. HP inkjet printers are also a good choice. Just make sure you pick one that has photo printing ablities. Shouldn't have to pay more that $100 for it, unless you want something faster.

I'm trying to give away a colour printer because it's costing too much in toner cartridges. I use it infrequently and between uses the cartridges dry up and become useless. On top of which, the printer head also gets gummed up. I've spent so much more on supplies for it than it cost in the first place. (Research this aspect before buying or even deciding to get colour.)

I now have a nice little Brother HL1435 (laser - black/white) for everyday use.

I have my photos printed at the Kodak kiosk in my local drugstore.

Just about any ink jet printer will meet your needs. I personally like Epson products for photos, however HP ink jet use a method which conserves ink by heating the print head to keep it clean. Most of the others just push more ink through the head to clean it.
