My friend claims that he used to have a fued with the girl he liked's boyfriend in highschool. Now, he knows someone in a similar scenario, his female friends husband, and he thinks that his unconscious is blending the two people together/ He says even though he doest have anything against the new guy, she still hates him. Whats that called?

I suppose you could call it a type of "projection" or "transference" -- basically your friend projecting or transfering the dislike of the old person onto the new person who is reminiscent of the old one.

It's not even a purely mental response. Mark Twain refers to the cat who, once having sat on a lit burner (and gotten burned), will no longer sit on a lit burner... but will no longer sit on a cold one either.

Your friend has had a physical dislike for or attached the negative physical experience of anger/loathing onto this old person; and the new person is enough like to old to re-trigger the same physical experiences all over again, simply through the body's ability to learn and adapt in order to survive.
