for whatever reason your physiological makeup is such that they remain dry. make sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, do not lick them and try to let them heal completely with vaseline as well as medicated lip balms. also, neosporin can work with the healing process.

Well, Baby Cakes, since you've had this condition since you were tiny your parents must have taken you to a doctor about your cracked lips. I'm guessing there was a diagnosis and the treatment calls for Vaseline every single night. Suggestion: don't miss a night and you won't suffer any more.

Could be a lack of vitamin E. I had something similar a few years back and tried a Vitamin E lip balm (from the body shop if you're in the UK) and this helped. Be careful not to get too much sun on them either. I always use a lip balm constantly, because your lips don't produce any natural oil. Spicy food irritates mine too, and make sure you don't have a food allergy to MSG like i do, and that's when i have sore lips

Maybe you have some rare desease that causes your lips to crack. Maybe they don't stop moving long enough to allow the skin on your lips to contract back to it's natural state. Maybe you shouldn't use vaseline and could try chapstick or blistex or something. Maybe you should see a doctor. I don't know.

Add putting a moisturizing lotion on your lips and letting it soak in, to your morning routine. Rub off the excess with a soft washcloth. Repeat this at night, before you put on the vaseline.

you are dehydrated and you probably breath through your mouth when sleeping. Drink water, and keep something on your lips. I personally like MaryKay lip balm, but just about anything will work.
