Aliens was very well done. I also liked Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Dune (The SciFi Channel version) was very close to the book as was Children of Dune.

Runner up "Andromeda Strain"
I also agree with sincityq with Blade Runner. Also consider 2001, which was way ahead of its time in SPFX.
