I've been a "professional" for 40 years, and the answer depends on who I'm doing the job for, and the difficulty factor in the prep.

I'd likely charge by the sq. ft. or knowing my past jobs, I'd offer it at $25 per hour to do it by myself.

I charge approx. $2 a sq. ft. in a simple, easy to cut in, paint job, so in a room 10 x 10 with 8 ft ceilings my fee would be, $320 plus any materials such as caulking, or major Mud work, then I'd add 10 % for prep and cleanup. If I have to do the ceiling, I charge the same,,, IE: 100 sq. ft. x $2 per.

For charity/non profit orgs. I charge a flat fee of 55 cents a sq. ft.

When I was buying paint, I struck up a conversation with a professional painter. He said he charged $300 per room and $500 if painting a darker color (like red) which requires more prep time. If you're using all the same color, it should be less expensive since there're less materials used.
