Or that it was returned to North Carolina's State Capitol in August of 2005 after almost 140 years? Or that the thief is reputed to have been a Union infantryman from Ohio, who helped ransack State Archives? Or that Ohio, which should have made some attempt to correct this affront to our state and national history, never made any effort to have the document restored to North Carolina?
