I dont understand them at all. Perhaps i'm the least self confident person in the world, but i still don't mind about how i look( yeah and i look like crap, while these girls look so beautiful already). Why do these people want to change their eyes? And why do they think they look beautiful with that surgery? In my opinion they look bad, very bad. and also, i see them as weak people who are controlled easily by what society or the media tells them is ok.

It's about not being happy with how they look. I'm not sure about the double eyelids...I think having whatever eyelids you have is fine. Work with what you've got, unless it's physically debilitating, like, a facial tumour, or a smashed jawbone.
But perhaps, at the moment, in Asia, specifically, double eyelids are considered attractive. Other parts of the world, it's big breasts, in others, a big rear...etc. I guess many people, everywhere have something they want to change about themselves

its their own choice... they do it because they themselves think it is pretty... not because of what popular media compels them to do... they simply want to look more cute by having larger looking eyes...
also i think that since japan especially is becoming more like america, that if women were getting surgery to feel more confident and appeal to men they would be having more than just their eyes done...

When I was in Beijing and Shanghai there was a real emphasis on looking white and how whites look. Asian women are beautiful and I think that it is a matter of time before they will realize it.
