Do you actually try to help them, or do you make up a lie and say you have to go somewhere?

well if they are your true friend you will listen to them because friends listen to one another even if it something you dont want to hear give them advice and do what you can do and thats what you do if you are a friend i dont think i would want to be your friend!

Is her whining serious problems to her? or just annoying to you? If they seem like they are a big problem to her just try and sort it out or at least pretend you are listening to her. If it is to much for you just say that you have a appointment shortly and you have to go and ask her to call you back later to finish discussing the problem if she does you know it is a serious problem for her.

I usually say: "Wait, let me just get the cheese to go with that whine of yours..." ha ha!! If you're really good friends, you should have the courage to tell them they're whining... Works for me! Good luck!

depnds, if its' something he/she does regularly maybe you can brush him/her off....
