Hi, I had the same problem with IE, then I thought I would give Firefox a chance, then I downloaded the Yahoo toolbar, and now pop ups are almost gone, in average maybe once a wwek. Be also aware that some sites are worse than others..........
Also get AdawareSE from download.com, run it once a week, remember to update every time before you run it
Best thing about my advice: it's free, and it works
Good luck

If you're running Windows, get Windows Defender. With that many pop-ups sounds like you have some spyware (or you're just going to the WRONG sites)

It works great. Do a full scan first (this may take a little while) and then set it up to scan regularly. Your pop-up problems should be history!

Go to www.panicware.com and download their free pop up blocker. I have been using it for years and I have no problems with pop ups when I'm using yahoo or any other web site.

jasper,
there are quite a few free programs available to drastically limit the number of pop ups. the one i use is pop up stopper - you can download it from the site - http://www.download.com/Pop-Up-Stopper-Free-Edition/3000-7786-10048866.html?part=dl-PopUpStop&subj=dl&tag=button - or just "google" pop up stopper for any additional programs and sites - this one can be easily turned off by double clicking on the white hand icon that gets loaded in the task bar (bottom right near the time)... you'll find it necessary sometimes to allow "stuff" to come through. double click again and it's back on.
good luck,
jake

there is an answer to all of your issues: acquire Firefox and installation, then acquire the addons: No Script and Flashblock. I in no way ever get any viruses, secret agent ware or any nasties what-so-ever. My anti-virus and secret agent ware software in no way get used.
