Recently my Boss offered me a job transfer; closer to home, actually work to be done and more cost effective. Now he's saying that he's going to "use me as a tool" and work both places. We are supposed to have a "chat" today and he's going to tell me when I can start and what he's going to have me doing. When I put the request to transfer in; I din't know I would have to travel back and forth and that I was going to be used as a tool. I have worked my butt off for seven years not to be anyones Lapgirl. I nned advise please!!! Should I put my foot down and tell my boss that I only want to work at the job closer to home and if hes says it'sa no-go should I quit? I deploy soon and I know I could find a job when I get back, I just don't know what to do. Any advise is greatly appreciated!

If you feel that kneeling and bowing is demeaning, then there is something probably wrong with you, it is an honour to be raised, you are being informed by a superior that you are worthy of being raised to your next rank. You should feel honoured that your hard work and dedication has been regonized. If you find this demeaning, then you obviously find yourself either your masters equal or better, and you should not defer to him. In all honestly i do not believe you are the right kind of person for a martial art, you can still do a martial study, but most likely stay away from the arts, try boxing, or kickboxing, something like that, roman greco wrestling, where there is no visible heirachy, and you only get what you put out, there is no real deference there, as long as you understand that many other people will know more than you, if not more, than different, always seek to expand yourself. But yes, drop Kung Fu.

Traveling can be quite expensive. Make sure that costs are paid by the employer. Gas is becoming more expensive and if you don't have the right vehicle, you could end up losing money.

On the other hand, you must communicate your concerns to your boss. Let him know what's on your mind and determine if their are any alternatives.

The bottom line is that you want to be happy. Can you achieve this with the current alternatives?

ask your boss if its possible just to work from one place in a nice way. Tell him the reason why you prefer to work just from there.

If he says no, dont just quit. And if you dont want to work there anymore than just apply at other places but dont quit till you find something new. And better.

Get everything in writing with his signature and make sure HIS boss knows the terms too. That way you have recourse. If the terms are unacceptable, quit.

I ask myself the same question. Stand up for yourself and tell your boss how your feel. If you have been with the Company for 7 years, you deserve to be listened to.
